franiefroufrou replied to your post: franiefroufrou replied to your audio post:… ohh dunno I’d never heard of them before today, that’s why I thought it funny to see your post. Maybe next years buzz band?
I just watched their videos for Parallels and Circles, and I have to admit it’s not my favorite music. It’s a bit too rave-y for my taste. The visuals are really beautiful,...

franiefroufrou replied to your audio post: Lumerians - Gaussian Castles This band from… ooh how weird seeing The Soft Moon on here, someone I’m musical neighbours with on last. fm (which means we have EXACTLY the same taste in music) recommended them to me earlier today. Haven’t looked them up yet though…
I haven’t checked The Soft Moon out yet, either. It sounds like they are...

herbt replied to your post: If this is the best rock that San Francisco has to… The rock scene is only part of it, though. If I were in SF, I’d be on the lookout for experimental string quartets, folk bands (traditional and new), for instance :-)
Yes, I’m definitely interested in a variety! Rock is just a start. I actually know more about the chamber music scene in San Francisco....

If this is the best rock that San Francisco has to offer, I am in for a painful exploration of the local music scene. I’m halfway through the playlist. Maybe it will get better.

Night Fog Reader Tumblr →
I did find an SF Bay Area music tumblr. The theme is absolutely maddening (takes forever to load), but the content looks interesting.

The Bay Bridged--San Francisco Indie Music Blog →
Here is a promising blog, not on tumblr. This one has a lot of mixtapes that you can download, including best-of 2011 mixes. I will get back to you soon, vincentstockholm! Looking forward to the exploration myself.

I realized today that I have very limited knowledge of the local San Francisco music scene. I always seem to buy tickets to see bands visiting from Brooklyn. I need to rectify this. I should look for SF music blogs, too.

SX-70 camera sculptures made from scrap metal! →
In the streets of Accra an employee of our agency Heine/Lenz/Zizka discovered this remarkable replica of the SX-70 camera. An incredible homage, a work of art proving that something can be created out of nothing. With imagination and skill teenagers in Ghana have created this amazing object out of nothing but old scrap metal. The Impossible Ghana Edition shares the playful spirit of the Ghana...

aspirationsandthings replied to your audio post: Chanticleer - Village Wedding (composed by John… Woaaah! no way! I saw Chanticleer back in 2007 or 2008 for a Christmas concert in a big cathedral. It was beautiful! So glad you posted this :)
That Christmas concert is so magical! I love that they walk all around the cathedral for different pieces, down the side aisles, and even up in the...

I’m braving the market for last-minute groceries. They are currently playing a cover version of the Grinch theme song, complete with heavy metal guitar solo.

I was talking music with my co-worker today. When I recommended DM Stith, she said, “Sounds like a rapper’s name.”

NewMusicBox presents Shara Worden: Conspiring in Song (featuring an interview and clips of the Merkin Hall performance last March)

Got my Andrew Bird ticket! It was a bit dicey there for a while. I kept having to refresh, because their servers were overloaded. I have a feeling it will sell out in minutes during the public sale on Sunday. If you’re in San Francisco, the presale code is mua.

I was just researching a couple of artists and discovered that both had probably spent too much on overcomplicated, slick Flash-based websites that can’t be viewed on iPhones or iPads. I thought Flash was old-fashioned, or so my web designer friend has told me.

oh never heard this.
This whole concert is amazing. You can download it from FYSS’ bootlegs page.

ooh lots of naughty people flying the flag upside down (not than any British people really give a stuff which way it flies, we’re not really known for our patriotism) Did you buy anything?
Haha, I’m sure us Californians get a lot of the British cultural things wrong, but it’s fun.

aspirationsandthings asked: Since I was asking you about photo related questions the other day, I realized I don't know why you love or maybe prefer film photography/polaroid/alternative processing over digital. I love both, so I'm curious to hear why you love it.
I notice that most of you don’t have actual pictures of yourself as your icon, or those of you who do show only part of your face, or make it blurry. If you’ve had a full-face picture, did you regret it?
